REMINDER—The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians Advocacy Resource Center is hosting ARC's first March for MMIR on Sunday, May 5, starting at noon at Little Bear East in St. Ignace, Mich.

Come one, come all to show your support for our MMIR and families. Dress in red, wear your ribbon skirts and shirts, and march up State Street to honor our MMIR. There will be face painting, sign making, and MMIR items will be handed out to participants. Hope to see you there. You do not have to wear red; it is optional. Just come to support the cause.

The Sault Tribe Election Commission will be holding its monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, beginning at 11 a.m. Members may attend via Zoom or in person at the Whitefish Point Room at Kewadin Casinos. During the May meeting, the Election Commission and applicable staff will be conducting a mock run of how the May 23 Primary Election count night will operate. Volunteers needed

The Sault Tribe Election Commission will be conducting the Primary Election on Thursday, May 23, 2024, beginning 5 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom at Kewadin Casinos in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. There will be no Zoom option for attendance; however, Sault Tribe Video Producer Joseph Street will be on site to livestream the event to Facebook. As always, tribal members are welcome to attend to watch the process in person and get live updates that way.

The family of Victoria Janell Smart would like to invite you to an Indian taco fundraiser. Victoria passed away on Feb. 20, 2024, leaving two young children; Robert and Jacy. Proceeds from this fundraiser will pay for funeral expenses with any additional funds being donated to community programs in Victoria’s memory. Please join us at the Sault Tribe Cultural Center (Niigaanagiizhik) on Friday, May 3, 2024, from 11a.m. until 6 p.m. for this event.
